Someone I know, has for many years not been entirely honest in their financial affairs. This was with good intentions to help the family and nobody directly is hurt by it. This is now causing them a lot of mental Dukkha. They asked for help from a friend but this person is concerned about compromising their precepts particularly if their advice is not followed. Please comment.

My family is very arrogant, dishonest and often ignorant. I vowed to be different, but in my self-righteous way also have also often been arrogant and ignorant, Noticing this has brought on self-hatred. Could you please discuss how to work towards acceptance of difficult qualities in ourselves and in others with equanimity and compassion?
