Question

Is it OK to shift the focus in the walking, from the sensations in the legs, to for example, the arising and passing away of an insect bite?

Answer

If you are going to do that, we encourage you to stop and stand still. Then it is fine. But if you are walking and you are focusing on an insect bite, you are not going to be paying very much attention to where you are walking, and you could end up stepping on some animals without knowing it. So, in that way, focusing on the insect bite while walking actually throws your Compassion kind of out the window. It is OK to stop, stand still and watch the sensation, and see it pass away.
