Question

Do you have any experience with other spiritual paths?

Answer

Not much. A little bit, but not much. Once we found out about Buddhism, we were sold on the spot. We'd done a little bit of Yoga stuff before that, we read the Bible a few times trying to figure that out. We'd read books from the library about world religions, and actually we got interested in the few paragraphs about Buddhism. In it, it said that the main scriptures for Buddhism were called the "Three Baskets of Wisdom." So, we went to the library and asked them to please get the "Three Baskets of Wisdom" written by the Buddha. Well, they came back and said that there's no book, and they didn't know about it. Little did we know it's about 80 books and fills a whole bookcase (they've got a few copies here at Wat Kow Tahm)!. We didn't have that much experience, but we were sold with Theravadin Buddhism when we met it. We did have a little bit of interest in the Tibetan and the Zen schools as well, and investigated some to see what they had, but we quickly came back to Theravadin Buddhism. It fits for us.
