Question

What is important to keep in mind for my return to back home?

Answer

What's the most important thing in life? You hear me in the hall, I say it once or twice in the retreat, what's the most important thing in life? Is your food most important? Let's put food into perspective. Are your clothes most important? Let's put them into perspective, too. Whatever you think is really important, think about it for a minute, is this really the most important thing for me in my life?

So on your return back home, you might want to make some decisions. You might want to think about shifting some furniture. Some people change their jobs, because they start to think about what's more important to them in their life. Now if you keep that in mind every day of your life whether in retreat or out of retreat, then you're always going to grow. Because then you're pushing yourself. It's like with the Ten Paramis reflections before, I was saying jumpstart and push yourself to do more. Keep in mind what's most important. You know people get caught up in all sorts of frivolous things.

I was trying to get in contact with a person, once, and wrote them an email. They didn't answer for three weeks. I wrote them again, they still didn't answer. Another week, I wrote them a third time, they finally answered, "Sorry Steve, the football games have just been so exciting." To them the football games were so important; it was New Year's in America. So this is just it, what's going to be most important for you? If you really look at that question over and over, then you're always going to grow, because you see that so much of that other stuff, football games and whatever isn't so important compared to something deeper.
