Question

I try to understand what Vedana is. I try to bring it together with my knowledge about emotion, theories and brain. If Vedana comes before the labeling process perception, it is a response, it knows what is smelling, tasting. Is it maybe a response that is very much connected to the neurons?

Answer

I don't know what that means, neurons. Because I haven't actually studied the brain deeply. Try not to make it complicated. As far as Vedana goes, we can be aware of the pleasant, unpleasant and neutral feelings, that is enough. As our mindfulness increases, we may understand Vedana more. Then trying to understand how we react to feeling; pleasant, unpleasant and neutral feeling that arises coming from our sense contacts. If we complicate it and get into too many theories about it, this may prevent us from understanding it on an experiential level.
