Question

Why do we stop at the end of each walking track?

Answer

For me, stopping at the end of each walking track is to make sure I'm there. People who just turn around immediately without pausing, are often just lost in a daydream and they stay in a daydream in and out through the whole thing. Stopping always reminds me where I am. It will break a chain of thought if I am lost, it's very effective for that. I also stop after I've turned and all of you've been taught to do that, too. I hope you're doing it. It breaks any bit of wandering thought, but it doesn't break if we're being mindful already. So it actually doesn't interfere at all with the walking meditation, if we are present already. So stopping at the end of the walking track will help us if we are lost.
