Question

In the Jewish religion they have the saying, one who saves one life saves the whole world. What do you think about this?

Answer

I'm not quite sure I understand what they are talking about. I don't know whether I agree with it. Certainly by saving a person's life we have saved the world of that person. By valuing a human life we may bring more to the world, the qualities that will protect people in this world. If they're talking about the mental qualities then it sounds a bit like what Mae Chee Ahmon says, that we are a bit of the world. By saving one life we've saved part of the world. I don't know whether it would be saving the whole world. I think that I would have to actually look into that and ask them what they mean by that before I could actually agree with it or not.
