Question

What can I do if I see an animal heavily injured, maybe only living for a couple of hours and suffering a lot?

Answer

If you've got the time, if you've got the ability, take care of it during those few hours or minutes, and allow it to die more peacefully than it might. An example of this happens every year here, where we get millipedes that scramble all over the land. They have a round, brown body and lots of legs. They're totally harmless. But for the big black ants, they are a delicacy. Big black ants love them, big black ants will attack and kill them, and cart them away for food. For me, when I've seen the ants attacking the millipede, the millipede might be on its last breath. It's very simple to get the ants off, just blow on them. Blow, blow and if you keep blowing, the ants will run away. When the millipede is then left alone, you can scoop up the millipede and put it somewhere where you think it's safe. Then even if it's dying, it will die without being murdered at the same time. So if you find an animal that's dying, can you help it in any way so that at least it can die more peacefully than otherwise?.
