Question

When we make a Compassion/Lovingkindness wish for starving people should we not wish for them to get food instead of wishing for their mental Dukkha to go away?

Answer

That could also be a part of the Compassion wish that they get food, but if they don't get food, it's going to be much more important that their mental Dukkha goes away. I was once asked by somebody if it's better to send a donation or just wish Compassion and Lovingkindness for some people who suffer and I said, "Why don't you do both?" We don't have to limit our Generosity.
