As I usually say in the ten day retreat on day 10, it's very helpful to do at least one retreat a year or more if you're able. That will, of course, depend on your ability to have enough time and funds to do that. But certainly we encourage people to do retreats each year. Steve and I do a long personal retreat each year. Otherwise we wouldn't have the energy to lead retreats ourselves. Each of us has to take care of ourselves and recharge so we don't lose our direction.
It's very easy in your normal everyday life to lose your understanding of what is important and what is not. And you may get lost in the daily routine and the pressures of job and society, etc. It's very helpful to remember to step back and recharge yourselves. Remember what is important so that you can bring this attitude to your normal life.
