Most people, especially Westerners don't usually give more that they have. However yes, generosity has to be balanced with wisdom. Understanding what it is appropriate to give to and not giving more than we can, so that we are in the need of charity ourselves. However as I said most Westerners don't seem to be in that particular situation, many of the Tsunami victims have nothing. As far as donating here, we try to see the value of the gift and how many people will be able to benefit in a deeper way. But certainly generosity has to be balanced with wisdom, so we don't become in need of charity ourselves.
