Question

What personal benefits or changes in your life have you personally experienced from meditation?

Answer

It would take a long time to answer this fully. Before I started mental development I had difficulty helping myself let alone anyone else! But through the practice I have been able to see the lessening of my Dukkha, the increasing of my understanding of myself and the causes for the Dukkha, and walk the path out of many of those Dukkhas that I used to have.

This type of meditation practice has also helped us to be able to pass that knowledge on to thousands of others, so that they may experience similar benefits in their life.

When I first was looking for the Buddha's teaching, I had become aware of suffering in the world. I looked everywhere and I saw it, I looked inside myself and I saw it. I also became aware of how a lot of that came about within my own mind. This is the first two Noble Truths. Suffering or Dukkha exists, and the cause of suffering lies in our ignorant unwise reaction and craving. So before I had met the Dhamma, I had become aware of this suffering arising within myself. I became aware of the cause of it but I didn't know the way out of it. That led us on a search through many different religions, philosophical practices, different meditation practices. We had the good fortune of picking up a book called, "The Light of Asia", it's a classic. This was the first time I heard about the Four Noble Truths and from that moment I found the way out of suffering. The personal benefits have been enormous.
