Determination and Resolution are really the shift in the mind that begins something new. I'm determined to change my life. I'm going to make a resolution to change my life. A New Year's resolution is a classic case. Now, it's also classic that people make a lot of New Year's resolutions and they don't keep to them. What's the difference? They had no energy behind the determination. So determination or resolution often comes first, but then we need energy behind it to make it work.
Without energy, determination stops. Now, along the way, when our energy weakens, we have to reignite the determination. If you get lost for three days, then you've got to get determined again to do it again, and then the energy has to go again. And if you're burnt out again, lost again for three days, you've got to get determined again. So they go hand-in-hand, it's not quite something that you can split the two apart, but it is very true that we make a determination and then we've got to put forth the energy to fulfill it.
