It may be influenced by the accurate Pali pronunciation of Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha, we usually hear in the chanting. For instance we will use Pali rather than Sanskrit for such words as Kamma instead of Karma and Dhamma instead of Dharma, because it's more in line with the Pali chanting and scriptures.
