Question

Is yielding to sense pleasures OK as long as one notes it?

Answer

As long as we are not a Non-Returner, we will have sense desire. So it's a matter of seeing the appropriateness of our sense pleasures and whether they're in line with morality. Is yielding to sense pleasures ok as long as one notes it? - that is an incomplete question. "Is yielding to sense pleasures ok as long as it is within the bounds of morality and one understands the possible results of it?" - perhaps that would be more appropriate. Because some sense pleasures we don't yield to even if we note them because they'll bring unbeneficial results.

One of the things that is very helpful in this sense is to remember the Buddha's instruction to Rahula, his son. When doing a physical or verbal or mental action to ask ourselves, "Does this lead to my own affliction, the affliction of others, or the affliction of both? Is it a skillful bodily, verbal or mental action bringing happy consequences, happy results?" So some sense pleasures would not be within this realm. Other sense pleasures help to calm the mind, perhaps going for a walk in the woods, are not particularly harmful to ourselves. We can't expect ourselves not to have sense pleasures. It's just a matter of noting that we can't depend on them totally, and that they're a worldly happiness. So I would say not to yield to sense pleasure just because we note it, but to yield to it only when we understand the possible results of yielding, and we know it does not lead to our own affliction, the affliction of others, or the affliction of both.

Using more compassion and wisdom, and understanding of cause and effect when we are dealing with our sense pleasures, may be more helpful.
