Question

I heard that some Buddhists make a difference between eating fish and eating meat. What do you think?

Answer

In Theravadin Buddhism there are no set food rules or requirements. We eat our food to be healthy and stay fit, to have a balanced diet, to take what is given and be appreciative that we have food and that we are not starving. So there is no differentiation in Theravadin Buddhism regarding eating fish or eating meat or being vegetarian or other food views. In Theravadin Buddhism, it is encouraged to just see the food as something to keep our body alive and healthy, using it so that you can continue on with your spiritual inner journey.
