Question

When you need to part from a loved one, do you always reflect upon the possibility that you may never see that person alive again in the future? And if yes, how do you do it?

Answer

We have to develop the practice of doing this, yes, that this may be the last time I see you. It was very helpful because I did this with my father as I never got to see him again. I usually try to imprint them in my mind and give them a Compassion/Lovingkindness wish and say, "This may be the last time I see you," and wish them well. Everybody has a different way of doing it and that's how I do it. This may be the last time I see you. It reminds me to give them a wish and to perhaps accept it more if I don't get to see them again. It certainly helped me with my father.
