Question

The other day Rosemary said she sees death as an opportunity - to what exactly?

Answer

It is an opportunity to let go in a big way. It is like we are working to let go, all the time, let go, let go. Death, in the moment of death we have the opportunity to let go in a big way, but you are not going to be able to let go unless you have practiced little letting go, all the time. Unless you have reflected on death coming at any time you may not be able to let go.

According to the scriptures, as far as any particular moment of your life, comparing any different moment, they say that at the moment of death there is the greatest opportunity to become enlightened. That this actually has the greatest opportunity in comparison to any other particular moment in your life, because it is very real then, it is very, very real, this body is not ours. It is very, very real, I am not going to take my wife with me, my friends, whatever, it is very, very real as we are dying, then it is all over.

For this reason, if we have practiced good enough and we reflect wisely at the moment of death, they say it is possible at that moment to get enlightened easier than any other particular moment in our life, because it is just so real. In that way it is an opportunity. Now just because it is such a better opportunity, don't go and kill yourself tonight just to find out! It will come when it is supposed to come, just try to get ready for it.
