Question

When I see an insect being carried alive by ants, I often try to save it. However, sometimes I've noticed that the ants have stung it already, and it dies anyway. So I wonder whether it would have been best to leave it, as when it gets taken away, the ants probably look for another one, and then two beings die instead of one.

Answer

As to what the ants do in the future, that's not our decision. Our decision is in the present moment. We're seeing one creature, being murdered by other creatures. What Rosemary and I personally advise is to blow; blow on the ants as much as you can. The ants will run. Keep blowing until the last one has run away. Pick up the creature they were attacking. Put it somewhere you think is fairly safe.

Now that creature, if it's not dead yet, is going to be relieved, they're going to be thankful. Yes, they may die soon, maybe they were attacked too much, that's true, they may die soon, but we don't know that either. We also don't know really what the ants are going to do next. Yes, eventually they'll go looking for another being, but that's their job. It's part of their work. The ants have lost one meal, but that creature has gained back their life. For how long it is, that's another question. So we do advise to go ahead, try to save the creature. Put it somewhere separate so it won't be attacked quickly again. But as for what ants do in the future, that's what they normally do, and that's their Kamma.
