Question

After the "Waking Up in the Morning" meditation last night, it took me a long time to get to sleep thinking of more examples. How can I tell if or where the off-balance lies? Maybe not enough Lovingkindness?

Answer

The person's asking if or where the off-balance lies. I am not sure if there was any off-balance. It's okay if it takes a while for you to go to sleep if you're reflecting on more examples of the "Waking Up" meditation. You're actually stimulating yourself; you've developed interest. If you're interested in something, you can't fall asleep. It's that simple. So, to me there may not have been any off-balance when the person was lying down, not sleeping. It's just that they were so excited and interested in the meditation, they were continuing it. And because they were continuing it, they couldn't fall asleep. So to me there wasn't an off-balance.
