Question

Our Compassion/Lovingkindness wish is that we and others may reach the ending of all Dukkha. How exactly do we achieve this?

Answer

That's the whole practice. What they call the Noble Eightfold Path. We have Right View, Right Thought, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness and Right Concentration.

It's not like we do one technique and we are going to achieve peace of mind with just this technique. We have a lot of different techniques. It's like we are giving you a huge tool box. You have to practice with every tool. You have to practice with the hammer, the saw and the screwdriver or whatever. You have to learn for yourself which of these techniques, which of these tools will work for your specific problems.

As we have said, a person who thinks a lot in the future needs to do more death reflection. A person has a lot of anger and aversion needs to do more Compassion/Lovingkindness meditation. So one person might use the hammer more than they use the screwdriver. Someone else may use the screwdriver more than they use the hammer. You have to learn these different tools, understand them, and then see how they work for you to end your own Dukkha.
