Question

You said sometimes it could be helpful listening to chants. How can you learn it?

Answer

One way is that we sell some chants that Rosemary made. Not only the audio recordings of the chanting, but we also have a booklet with it, so you will be able to follow the booklet with the chant. You can learn some Pali words, as she chants both some of the Pali and some of the English. Some chants are traditionally now done in English in Western countries. Normally, whatever country that you are in that is Buddhist, what you often find is that the monks and nuns will do chanting in Pali and some in their own language, whatever the language is. If you go to Thai chanting, you will hear a lot of Pali, sometimes you will hear some Thai. Westerners will do more English chanting, because very few understand the Pali. In Thailand there are more people who understand the Pali language, because what I said earlier in the retreat, almost all Thai people will enter the monkhood or the nunhood sometime in their life and they learn the chanting themselves that way. But indeed a lot of people very much appreciate chanting and if you get the audio recordings that we have in a little booklet that we have you can learn chanting on your own that way.
