Question

Is it worth trying to figure out what events or serious events led you to be a certain way? For example: how did I become such a jealous person? Or is that feeding the thought?

Answer

This can be like a person who has been shot by a poison arrow. A doctor arrives and sees the person lying on the ground bleeding to death and says to the person, "I'm a doctor. Let me try to help you. Let me take the arrow out and remove the poison." But the person says, "No. First I want to know who shot the arrow. I want to know whether they are tall or short, fat or thin, and what clan they came from, and I also want to know what the arrow was made out of."

It's often better just to deal with the Dukkha, take the arrow out and remove the poison.
