Question

What if someone doesn't ask a question out of the fear of not finding the right words. Will he/she still be reborn stupid?

Answer

You know, in regards to fear of not finding the right words, so often when we asked questions, we were laughed at, we were yelled at, we were told that we are stupid and dumb. Now, I dare to say that it probably happened to each one of us, sometimes as kids, sometimes as adults. And it does often condition many people to be afraid of asking a question because "they might not find the right words." They get laughed at, yelled at, whatever, it does condition people in that way. It's normal.

When it comes to asking questions to me and Rosemary, for those of you who have done a lot of retreats with us, I don't think you are afraid. No matter what kind of questions you've asked us in interviews, I don't think we have laughed at you, though we've often laughed with you. I don't think we've yelled at you, I don't think we've told you that you're stupid and dumb. If you've only done one retreat with us or a small number of retreats with us, perhaps you are still a little bit hesitant in how much you trust me and Rosemary, and that's understandable. But as far as being afraid, you don't have to be afraid of me and Rosemary. If you find the right words, then that's good, we will understand you better. If you give us words that don't quite make sense, then all that we are going to do is ask you to please explain it again, so you don't have to be afraid of saying it in the wrong way, or "not in the right words".

You don't have to be afraid with us, but you might be more cautious with other people and that's fine. When you have a good teacher or good friends, generally, you don't have to worry that you might not say it exactly right, or that you have not said it exactly right. This is because good friends and good teachers will accept you for who you are, and if they don't understand you exactly, they're just going to ask you to say it again in a different way, so they better understand your question.
