Question

What can we do if we have difficulty accepting the help of others?

Answer

You can reflect on how you feel when people refuse your help. Think about it, when you offer your help to somebody and they accept it, you kind of feel, "Yeah!", and you go about helping and they feel good and you feel good - there's a sharing of good feelings. But when you offer your help to someone and they go, "No, no. I don't need it", it kind of puts a dampener on things, they kind of denied you the ability to make good Karma, and they also denied themselves the ability to get help which they might actually need. So if you do that to others, if you have difficulty accepting the help of others, and you say, "No, no. It's okay. I can do it", well, you just stopped them from making good Karma - Ahhhh!

When you think about it, is there any problem in letting people help us? Does our ego get shot? I've let people help me when I really didn't need the help because I thought, "Well, you know they offered, it will be good Karma for them to actually do something in this way." If I say, "No thanks, no thanks. It's okay, it's okay", well, I just denied a lot of people from making good Karma. How many? Maybe five? I just denied five people from making good Karma, from doing something good in their life. They want to be generous, they want to help, and I denied them.

So if you have difficulty accepting help from others consider this from a different angle. Consider what it means for others if they're allowed to help you, that they get a chance to do something good, and even though maybe we didn't really need it, does it hurt us to let them do it? No.
