Question

In situations when we don't get what we think we should, how should we know how much we should endure or fight for our rights?

Answer

Okay, a good question here, really, because it's not black and white, so I can't answer it unless I know the specific occasion. There is the saying though, "Don't sweet over small stuff". We are going to get Dukkha in our life, on a regular basis, whether you like it or not, whether you agree with it or not, whether you know about it or not, you're still going to get Dukkha, no matter what. If you rebel against every bit of Dukkha, you are wasting your energies.

Some things you have to accept, other things no, you may not want to accept, something that is really important, something that is very big, say for example, somebody writes an news article about a person in an important position. It's full of lies, trying to attack the person's reputation. It's an illegal activity called libel. The person in the important position might lose their position as a result of these untruths being written about them. They might decide to sue the writer for libel and get them to retract and aplogize for what's been done. There is still a bit of harm done, but minimized. So in something like that, a person does have to take strong action to try to stop what's happening, to "fight for their rights".

But it isn't black or white, you do have to be careful. And it might be best if you want to ask about a specific situation in an interview.
