Buddhism says, yes, some can, but you have to develop the psychic ability to able to do that. We only met one person, one of our Thai teachers who claimed they were able to do that at one stage of their life. I don't think they can still do it though but because of the power of their purity and their concentration, they were able to develop the psychic ability they could actually communicate with someone who had died. So according to Buddhism it can be done, but it's very rare.
