Question

In the third foundation of mindfulness in the Satipatthana Sutta we are to observe mind states, with or without desire or aversion, just observe. In the fourth Satipatthana Sutta/foundation of mindfulness, we are to investigate the conditions for the arising of desire and aversion, when they arise as hindrances, see how to let them go and prevent them from arising in the future. Could you please explain the difference?
