    My family is very arrogant, dishonest and often ignorant. I vowed to be different, but in my self-righteous way also have also often been arrogant and ignorant, Noticing this has brought on self-hatred. Could you please discuss how to work towards acceptance of difficult qualities in ourselves and in others with equanimity and compassion?

    Reading and writing. I recently read that the Pali language and the language that the Buddha spoke were not written languages. For a long time only oral communication was used. Please talk about the importance or relevance of "speaking and listening" versus "reading and writing" regarding our Dharma practice.
